These past few weeks I have learned so much. Weird right, just some random time in my life I experience learning some very valuable lessons. This post is very important to me.
We have been in a very very rough financial spot in our lives, and it has been so hard and embarrassing. I know people say "don't be embarrassed everyone has a hard time." Well my hard times have taught me that there are still kind people in the world.
Riley and I went to Walmart with the girls a couple weeks ago, and we use food stamps. Well we get to the register and they tell us our total after food stamps was $8.00 but neither Riley or I had any money, nor did we purchase anything that food stamps didn't cover. So here we are with two managers and our cashier looking at receipts trying to figure out what we still owed for. The lady continuously asked us if we had the $8.00 to pay cause that was pretty much the only option. There were people in line behind us, they had been waiting forever!! I was so embarrassed, my eyes were filling up with tears. Then we heard the lady behind us say " Don't worry about it we will pay." Of course we insisted she didn't but she did anyways, and of course I cried. The husband turns to us and says "don't worry about it we have been there too." I couldn't help but cry, I felt in shock to know there were still such kind people out there. I felt in my heart I will need to be paying it forward. I hugged this stranger and thanked them for as long as I could. That day I got a glimpse of world peace.
Then just recently we were driving when Rileys gas light came on. His gas dropped rapidly all of a sudden. We had $3 dollars in change and that was it. We stopped at the gas station and told the guy $3 dollars on pump 4. He told Riley just keep filling it up until stops. So as we were getting gas we watched the numbers go up and up. The gas pump stopped at $10, and I looked at Riley and I told him, "someones watching out for us."
In hard times we keep our spirits positive, we believe in paying it forward and helping other people. We know there is hope for the world, the future, however we read a story today about a little boy, who just couldn't get past his hard times. He committed suicide, He was Seven years old..... here's his story.
DETROIT, May 25 (UPI) -- A 7-year-old
boy's suicide over being bullied at school has shocked a Detroit
community and has lawmakers speaking out against bullying.
The boy, whose name was not reported, was found hanging from a bunk
bed with a belt around his neck Wednesday afternoon by his 14-year-old
sister, the Detroit Free Press reported.
His mother told police she forced her way into the bedroom where the boy was, got him down and called 911.
The boy "had been depressed due to her recent separation from his
father, the fact that he had been bullied continuously by the children
at school, in addition to the constant teasing that he had endured
because he was the only boy in the home of eight females," a police
report of the incident said.
The boy's mother told police he had mentioned harming himself in the
past and had been seeing the family's pastor to help him cope.
"It's just a tragedy on so many levels," Detroit Police Chief Ralph
Godbee Jr. said Thursday, calling the situation "unfathomable."
Neighbor Harold Pleasant said he could hardly believe what had happened.
"I'm going to be devastated about this if God don't take it away from
me because I can't think of nothing else," he said. "I don't know how a
kid that age can come to the conclusion to kill himself."
Detroit City Councilwoman Saunteel Jenkins, who sponsored Detroit's
ordinance that makes it a misdemeanor to bully children in person or
online, said the boy's suicide demonstrates the need for a stronger
response to bullying.
"For a 7-year-old to lose his life in any form is heartbreaking. But
to imagine a child that young, who is so sad, that believes his only
option is to do this? Heartbreaking is not a strong enough word,"
This story more than upset me. This breaks my heart. When I was seven I didn't know about suicide. What made sense in this poor boys life that this was the way out? 7 years old, this boy didn't even live. How can someone be so mean? How can one be so terrorized at such a young and innocent age. Bullying must stop. Something must be done. I am going to strive my hardest to start a fundraising group against bullying. These stories make me sick.. Be kind. Give a smile, you never ever know how you might affect someone. And again I am going to challenge all of you, to be kind. Be the one to pay for someone elses groceries, help the elderly, simply be kind every day. ♥
